    Cafe Medina on Beatty Street

Months ago we heard murmurs of a new breakfast joint, “The Gypsy Room,” which was getting set to open as the next project to be undertaken by Chambar’s Schuermans. The name didn’t stick but Cafe Medina, located crosstown next to Chambar on Beatty Street in Vancouver recently opened their doors to the public.

The new breakfast place, owned by the Schuermans, Nico and Kari, and partner Robbie Kane (originally a server from the aforementioned restaurant) features Liege-style waffles, smoothies, coffee from 49th Parallel and more.

More about what Sweet Spot and Vitamin V had to say about the place after the jump.

CBC Radio ONE moving to FM?

Not so fast there, snappy! CBC has one more week to get in support. The process is pretty easy. The good folks at CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, not to be mistaken with the Communist Broadcasting Company) have laid out the directions to make it simple, and you can even do it on the web.

Mind you, CRTC’s website is a bit convoluted … but I’m sure you can do it! So see you on the other side and good luck in supporting a great radio station.

    Infamous Magazine – December 2007

“Northern Soul – A Nod to Mod” is the theme of December 2007′s INFAMOUS featuring some of the finest, coolest threads you can pick up in Vancouver.

With an interview of Dan Wuertele aka DJ Timeline, this issue is something you don’t want to miss.

As for my section, in November and December I put down the camera at alot of places and picked up a drink. The most notable event in my mind, Urban Mixer’s own Gallery Series event at auto/ONE where we got to fill the luxury car dealership, enjoy drinks by U’Luvka, Whistler Beer and Barefoot Wines and got some fantastic food by Chefs Connor Butler and Kodai Uno. … not that I’m biased or anything but events like that are certainly few and far between.

    Infamous Magazine – November 2007

November 2007′s INFAMOUS – Steve Aoki aka Kid Millionaire tagged and bagged. Well, interviewed and photographed, rather, I mean.

    Infamous Magazine - November 2007

Favourite event? I’m kinda torn between the Sixty Boutique grand opening after party at M Bank on Main Street featuring Steve Aoki, or the launch of Luxe VIP Concierge at OPUS which doubled as ‘the Tanqueray’ party to be at with spokesperson Tony Sinclair. Too bad they didn’t have Tanqueray’s recently introduced Rangpur Gin out to try.

As for the favourite pic? The Talelight Films Party at OPUS, I got a good shot of Zach Lipovsky from the lot and friend, Ali Staesson.

    Pinkys Steakhouse – The Review

Finally, after some early coverage of Pinkys Steakhouse (or what some might call Pinky’s Steakhouse), I’ve made it out to their Yaletown location for a treat and must say I’m duly impressed.

Upon entry, I was immediately seated and throughout the dinner, my server was attentive to my needs, knowledgeable about the menu and chock full of good suggestions.

For dinner, I indulged in a full offering, a sampling of drinks from the bar, an appy, a main course and dessert.

Some photos of the menu and drink menu:
