Sean Wise from Wise Mentor Capital has an announcement. Okay, it’s a couple weeks old now but he’s a good guy to plug .. so here goes:
FROM: Sean Wise
SUBJECT: Announcing: a blog, a podcast and a TV show?
Dear friends,
The last month has been really exciting here at Wise Mentor Capital . We have launched a blog, created a series of podcasts and participated in the production of a soon to be aired TV show. Can you believe it?
The Blog

My Blog, which is an extension of the column I write for the Globe and Mail, can be found at www.seanwise.com. I am planning on using it to take lessons on entrepreneurship and venture capital to the next level. It includes subsections on…
How Not to Suck @ – best practices for startups on various business issues and how to avoid the pratfalls
You can read it online or subscribe to it by clicking on the following link: http://feeds.feedburner.com/WiseWords
The Podcast

If you have ever seen me moderate a discussion panel, you know I love speaking with successful entrepreneurs and querying them on their areas of expertise.
Wise Words: The Podcasts will include short Interviews and discussions with entrepreneurial experts, technology gurus and financiers on a wide variety of topics. You can listen to it directly from the blog at www.SeanWise.com or subscribe to it by clicking on the following link: http://feeds.feedburner.com/WiseWords
The podcasts will also be available for download from iTunes and other podcatchers.
The TV Show

This fall, the CBC will be launching their Canadian version of the extremely successful BBC business reality show, the Dragons Den.
Dragons’ Den will give Canadian entrepreneurs the chance of a lifetime. They’ll get 15 minutes to pitch their idea to a panel of 5 major league investors, called Dragons. Each Dragon is a successful entrepreneur in their own right worth tens of millions of dollars. The Dragons will act as angel investors, investing their own money in the ideas they are pitched.
This is 100% real, even during the test tapings I participated in 2 weeks ago actual deals got done and real money got invested. If you are seeking seed or angel money (<$250k) for your invention, your startup, or even just for your concept, this is well worth trying out for.
My role in the production has centered on screening potential candidates for the show and providing industry expertise to the CBC folk. They have been great to work with and the process has been a lot of fun. When the show airs I will also be acting as the Online Host - providing commentary and content for the website.
Auditions are taking place in Toronto this week (at the CBC studio, Sat June 24th, 9-2) and then rolling out across Canada in the coming weeks. Check out www.SeanWise.com for more details on how to apply to be on the show (just click the Dragons’ Den logo on the left side bar) and then check back to the blog to glen more from “Inside the Dragons’ Den”. Auditions are open to anyone who thinks they have the next big thing , so please pass this note around. The show is an excellent and exciting opportunity and we want to make sure we attract as many candidates as possible. Thanks for reading this update and hopefully I’ll see you online real soon.
Until then, be well,
Sean
