DHM better known as Donnelly Hospitality Management or the people famous for Bimini’s Tap House, Denman Free House, Granville Room, and the Library Square Public House are opening up a brand new bar, Republic (I initially thought it would be Republik like the bar of old in Calgary) at 958 Granville practically accross the street from the Granville Room.

There are a couple things which make this place special:

1. Staff – Alex McClenaghan of Sonar, Tokyo Lounge and most recently of Richards on Richards fame will be the GM for the place, lots of experience and contacts
2. Location – Nothing on that side of the street other than Roxy, great place to put a bar and fill out the Granville strip
3. Setup – I haven’t been inside but the two-storey setup with a great balcony overlooking the Granville strip looks promising
4. Great menu – well, I haven’t seen it either but if you look at the recent change to the Granville Room menu and what they’re doing there, I think you’re going to like
