The Republic soft-launch was a hit. Very nice inside, lots of space for lots of people.

A well-manicured interior, two levels, a very accessible location, great food, excellent service. What more could you ask for? Photographs, that’s what!

Vancouver, BC: The lights and cameras of the Food Network’s restaurant reality show Opening Soon have been chronicling the creation of Vancouver’s next restaurant in the city’s hot nightlife core for months.
The action begins on May 24 when Sanafir Restaurant and Lounge opens at 1026 Granville Street. Its owners are celebrating with an exclusive media and VIP preview.
Today appears to be the day to vote online with the Province newspaper regarding the Whitecaps Waterfront Station. I received two opposing viewpoints into my inbox this morning, so far it looks like the position in favor for the stadium is taking the lead online.
It’s a beautiful, sunny day. You just finished off lunch, you’re returning to the office, but first, you decide you have to stop off as the cobbler to see if your shoes are done. You’re on the phone getting directions to the place, you’re there, you’re parking and about to hang up the phone then all of a sudden BEEP!
Yup, some asshole behind you is blowing their horn at you because you’re taking too much time making sure that the truck you’re driving isn’t going to bump the cars while doing the park job.
The asshole who previously beeped you proceeds to give you the finger. He then gets into the other lane, cuts off traffic and speeds off, pedal to the metal, back to his office a block away. Too bad for him, he’s driving a company car with Pac Blue Digital Reprographics on the side. Way to go, dumbass!
Man, there’s alot of activity happening on the Granville Strip and/or close-to as of recent. The boys at Glowbal and Coast have been busy with their new project, Sanafir, for some time.
Someone has finally taken that attrocity known as Panama Jacks and has done something constructive with the location. Jeff Reid, formerly of Crush Lounge amongst many other things has opened up a Wine and Tapas Lounge called UnWine’d at 1180 Howe Street.
DHM better known as Donnelly Hospitality Management or the people famous for Bimini’s Tap House, Denman Free House, Granville Room, and the Library Square Public House are opening up a brand new bar, Republic (I initially thought it would be Republik like the bar of old in Calgary) at 958 Granville practically accross the street from the Granville Room.
