We had a good lunch, having a background with NGOs through my experience as CTO with Metasoft and Bigdatabase.com, we were right on the same page. During lunch, we also spoke about another event that Lions was going to have in September — rappelling off a building on West Georgia Street.
It’s been a while since I’ve rappelled but I have fond memories — especially of strange circumstances where I got to go off a skid of a helicopter so I agreed to do it when the opportunity arose.
Well, it’s here!
Be a Superhero for Easter Seals™ kids! The Drop Zone is an exciting new fundraising event never before done across Canada!
This summer in key cities across Canada you can have the opportunity to rappel down the side of an office building in your community. And it’s legal!
Participation in this opportunity of a lifetime requires all rapellers to generate at least $1,500.00 in pledges and challenge your daily comfort zone for a great cause – Easter SealsTM. And every penny raised in your community, remains in your community to help local Easter SealsTM kids with disabilities.
You can check out the website at http://www.thedropzone.ca/english.html. (Or, in French at http://www.thedropzone.ca/french.html).
I’ve signed up so don’t forget to mark your calendar – I’ll be sure to put the event up on the Urban Mixer Calendar once I get more details. In the interim, I have to raise some funds for the event so be sure to sponsor me… HERE!
See you September 27th!
