I have so many great things to say about the event. Kudos to Frances in making such a nice event happen. The presenters were good, the five varieties of wines we enjoyed were also great and the attendees were top notch. The selection of appies were yummy as well. My personal photo album features the photos taken during the event so feel free to peruse.
After the event, I stuck around and helped Frances clean up. Cassandra (the manager of the wine store) closed up the store, Rosanna stuck around. Another unamed fellow also stuck around – a newcomer to our group. Cassandra cracked a nice bottle of wine for us to enjoy while we packed up – for the life of me, I can’t remember the name but interestingly, she’s not able to serve the wine in mass quantities. After the cleanup, we all decided to head out to Opus for drinks.
I like the Opus’ atmosphere – I spent most of my time playing with the shimmer screen while listening to the ‘ambience’ or better stated the table next to us having one fellow who was way to competitive tell the girls he was having a drink with that he could beat them at the Grouse Grind despite the fact that he consumed copious quantities of every narcotic, amphetamine and of course, alcohol in the book. Let’s see if he feels the same way when he’s 30 (he was a bit younger).
Our unnamed companion said some things which weren’t very indicative of a good, healthy upbringing such as the need to share with us that he was fed sour milk and rancid butter as a child and hence his stomach was made of steel. He also ordered a drink for the ladies and then decided to skimp out and barely pay for his drinks. Oh well, here’s some etiquette for gentlemen in the crowd:
I think Frances was so pissed that she’ll be giving a call. We’ll see where this goes.
On another note, after last Social Empire event, I had the opportunity to visit One Lounge. A nice place to hang out and you definitely don’t feel like you’re in skid row. Food is good and co-incidentally, we met Goby Catt, one of the very recently and quickly departed former owners of Mo’ Butta (considering we just finished a party at Mo’ Butta and there were no plans to go to One for dinner, don’t you think this is coincidental?). I will have to give Dave Anderson a call at One and see if we can do something at the venue sometime soon. Perhaps for an Urban Mixer event.
