Welcome to Japan

First and formemost, damn you Vodaphone for making me think that you actually did something as progressive as implement a GSM network in Japan. That’s a misnomer. There is no GSM network here – sorry folks – I am totally and completely out of touch. If you really need me, Skype me :)

The flight in

Japan Airlines isn’t all that bad – I do notice a difference between Business and Economy classes, though. The staff isn’t as friendly as you’d like them to be in Economy but then again, having to deal with the mass of buttheads in on a daily basis could probably be the source of their angst.

Seats are cramped but then I’d never purport to being the same size of a Japanese man – unless you include the Sumo Wrestlers in and around the country. I enjoyed the personal entertainment system – actually got to view I Robot with Will Smith which took up most of my time on the flight outside of being crashed out. I hope that the other airlines get their act together soon – the folks at Lufthansa rock for delivering broadband service. I can’t say the same for others.

Reaquainting

I’m finally adjusted – I’m staying in Shibuya, about a block and a half away from Tokyo Opera City. Shinjuku is a 10 minute walk and so I’m really central and in the mix of things. Pictures below from left to right: Airport Limousine bus to the Shinjuku Park Hyatt, some stores in Shinjuku (2), Ramen place (featuring the Brain, Iceman and Spaz – blog circa 2001 at http://www.raj.jp), my dinner, subway station (don’t ask – I don’t know why), subway station again, Jimmy, Incs Inc. on the 52nd floor of Tokyo Opera City (2), Yakitori at the Izakaya in the basement of Tokyo Opera City, The corridor separating Tokyo Opera City and the National Opera centre.

I’ll probably take more pictures as I have time to do so. In the interim, I’m off to get some more work done. (Mostly catchup from my last trip to France).
