Ode to an event organizer…

Yesterday, did a good wine tasting at Hamilton Street Grill, tonight another wine tasting at Marquis. Tomorrow? Twisted Conversations!

It was serendipity. Jules, one of our members, e-mailed out last Friday in the morning letting her contact list know that she was to attend a wine tasting on Monday night but was without a partner in crime. Despite the fact that I was in Toronto’s Pearson International Airport, using my cellphone’s GPRS connection to check my e-mail and only had 15 minutes of battery power left on my laptop, I was the first respondent to her e-mail.

The tasting was good – the winery was not memorable – meaning I don’t remember who did the wine. The food was good as well, I do remember Chef Neil. Sitting at our table were a couple kids from Delta – one from Tsawwassen and another from Ladner. Nice couple. They were celebrating a birthday – what a good gift for someone that young.

Today I feel that there is a true shortage of good men in this town. I’ve been busting my derriere to get the male numbers up for tomorrow’s event. Apparently there is alot of arm twisting which is going to have to go on to get this to work for tomorrow. I personally love the idea of meeting 20 women in one night!

I went to a wine tasting at Marquis tonight – Trevor Skillen (Metasoft Systems), my mentor, invited me. Ray Signorello (Signorello Vineyards, one of my favourites) was there amongst other suspects. I also asked around, especially to Kevin McKinnon (Marquis Wines) and Michelle (Marquis Wines) if they knew any single men in my demo – they didn’t.

I’m off to the Railway Club to see Jake Jacob perform for the CITR Battle of the Bands and hopefully to recruit.
